Description

A Senior Medical Writer is responsible for the development of scientific content in a variety of formats, accurate interpretation of data, clear communication with clients and authors, efficient planning and organization, establishing effective working interactions with editorial, graphics, account services, and product management teams, and produce quality products efficiently under multiple timelines. A senior medical writer will also provide mentoring, training, and peer review for medical writers. Although particular therapeutic expertise is not a requirement, background/experience in oncology, immunology, inflammatory, diabetes, or infectious diseases are a plus.

Position Responsibilities:

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Functions within 1 to 2 business units
  • Accurate scientific/medical writing on a variety of medical communication and promotional projects
  • Research (eg, literature or competitor searches)
  • Provide writing support for publication and medical communication plans
  • Attend scientific/client meetings and provide pre- and post-meeting materials as needed
  • Verbal and written internal communication (eg, project status) and external communication (eg, clients and authors)

The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Excellent writing and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple timelines
  • Work independently with minimal additional training and peer review
  • Willingness to travel (~10%)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and reference management software (eg, Endnote, Reference Manager)

Requirements

Education:

  • PhD

Experience:

  • ≥1 year postdoctoral research
  • ≥1.5 years professional scientific medical writing experience; preferably in a scientific communications agency
  • Prior experience with developing publications including scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
